There are SO many misconceptions about how to properly socialize puppies.
The American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior advocates for safe socialization to begin before the puppy is 3 months old. This is often before the puppy is fully vaccinated.
Learn how to safely socialize your pup to different sights, sounds, objects, and other living beings, before this age, since many anxiety and aggression cases are caused by lack of proper socialization during this very small, but crucial window of time.
Having another dog does not socialize them to dogs outside the home, and dog parks, or going nose-to-nose with other dogs on leash, can be very dangerous.
We recommend a phone consult or puppy prep session to learn more. Or, go to AVSAB.org and then go to “position statements” then “Puppy Socialization” to learn from the best, fee free!
Note: If you have missed this crucial socialization window, please know that you are not alone, and we will help with the process of helping your dog acclimate to different stimuli.
