Basic Obedience/Basic Cues – Group or Private Sessions
Basic cues are the easiest to teach, and for dogs to learn, provided they feel safe.
As behaviorists, we play with purpose, making learning fun. It’s powerful and productive, while building trust between the owner and dog, whereas force and fear are counterproductive!
Basic Cues:
- Focus/Look to you for direction
- Sit
- Lay down
- Stay
- Come
- Drop it
- Leave it
- Loose Leash Walking
You might have noticed we call them “cues” versus commands.
This is because the word “commands” might seem we need to be domineering/fear-based (“Do it or else!”), when all studies show that building a bond of trust and mutual respect is what produces the best results for the human and dog…both for compliance and companionship.
