Behavior modification for aggression takes careful evaluation and time.
We do this by teaching positive associations with triggers, giving energy outlets, and calming activities.
This is because fear is at the root of aggression, whether that be fear of humans or other dogs, objects, etc.
Therefore, it’s extremely important to use science-based methods that do NOT add more stress to the dog’s nervous system.
Instead, we want to help the dog learn to relax and feel better about previous triggers. This requires TLC, NOT rough and tough techniques.
As behaviorists, we play with purpose, making learning fun. It’s powerful and productive, while building trust between the owner and dog, whereas force and fear are counterproductive!
